This study undertakes a comprehensive historical survey and theological examination of Christian congregational song, traversing two millennia of Christian worship practices. It encompasses a diverse range of musical expressions, from early chant to contemporary praise choruses, and includes both traditional Western hymnody and global worship songs. The discourse also emphasizes the importance of incorporating various song types into worship design, alongside strategies for introducing congregations to and effectively leading them in novel musical forms for worship.
