Dr. Michael Berhow

Dr. Michael Berhow serves as the Spiritual Formation Coordinator at Calvary Christian High School and has taught philosophy and theology courses at various universities, including the University of South Dakota and Augustana University. He currently holds adjunct positions at South Dakota State University and Grand Canyon University. Dr. Berhow earned a B.S. in Communication Studies from South Dakota State University, as well as an M.Div. and Ph.D. in Christian Philosophy from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He was a church planter with the North American Mission Board, founding Veritas Church in Brookings, SD. Prior to that, Dr. Berhow spent ten years participating in and organizing various apologetics events with Equip Campus Ministries, Ratio Christi, and the Veritas Forum.


Dr. Berhow is the author of Dysteleology: A Philosophical Assessment of Suboptimal Design in Biology (Wipf & Stock/Pickwick, 2019), co-editor of Engaging Populism: Democracy and the Intellectual Virtues (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022), and has published two peer-reviewed articles: “Causation and the Origin of Suboptimal Design in Biology” (Philosophia Christi, 2020) and “Did the New Atheists Rationally Lack Belief?” (Themelios, 2020). His academic research focuses on theology and science, intellectual virtues, worldview studies, and apologetics. He lives in Oldsmar, FL, with his wife, Becky, and their four children.
